Services will be 12 Noon Saturday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Albert B. Batta 89 of Austintown who passed away Wednesday afternoon at his home. Albert was born August 29,1914 in Hubbard a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mecsey) Batta and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of American Hungarian Reform Church where he was a Chef Elder and served as the church treasurer for several years. Albert was also a member of the American Legion Post #737 of Lake Milton, the Musicians Local #86 the Meander Lodge, Aut Mori Grotto. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during WWII where he played in the Air Force Band. Albert retired from Ohio Edison as a Supervisor of Construction in 1979 after 40 years of service. He leaves his wife the former Erma Chepke whom he married September 20,1941, a daughter Janet Batta of Austintown, a son Albert D. Batta of North Jackson, two sisters Viola Allen of Brookfield, and Lucille Hume of New York, four grandsons; Michael and Andrew Cone and Brenton and Ryan Batta, and six great-grandchildren. A son Michael D. Batta, two brothers Blaine and Paul Batta and a sister Martha Boland precede Albert in death. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley 5190 Market Street Youngstown, Ohio 44512.
