Alice Mae Beckett, 91 of Champion Township, died Monday afternoon, April 21, 2014, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born March 1, 1923 in Warren, the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Mary Clay Quinby Sr. Alice was a lifetime Trumbull county resident, living her married life in Bazetta and Champion townships. Alice was a 1941 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. She worked for many years at Packard Electric as an inspector, retiring in 1978. Alice was a member of the Champion Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the senior citizen's SOC group. She enjoyed camping and belonged to the Camp-A-Lot camping group; traveling with her husband, especially to Florida and playing Bingo. Her husband, who was her childhood sweetheart and neighbor from Iddings Avenue in Warren, Robert L. Beckett Sr., whom she married October 26, 1942 preceded in death February 2, 1996. Five sisters, Catherine Quinby, Dorothea Dietz, Clara Renftle, Helen Whitney and Elizabeth Bugos have also all preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter, Carol B. (Thomas James) Stanford of Howland; one son, Robert L. (Donna) Beckett, Jr. of Champion Township; five grandchildren, Donny (Cindy) Frank, Michelle (Robert) Blakley, Tracy (Dale) Kinnamin, Robert Beckett III and Jennifer (Jesse) Hughes; eight great grandchildren and one brother, Clyde (Pearl) Quinby Jr. of Naples, Fla. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren and also one hour prior to the Noon funeral service on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Champion Presbyterian Church in Champion. Pastor Marvin Barney will officiate. Burial will follow Friday at Champion Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Champion Presbyterian Church.
