Mr. Carl Benadella of Masury, Ohio, passed away Wednesday November 11, 2009 at 8:30PM at O'Brien Memorial Home. He was 90 years old. Mr. Benadella was born on April 16, 1919 in Masury, OH to Carlo and Madeline (Vitti) Benadella. He was a 1938 Graduate of Brookfield High School and then went on to served our country in U.S. Army with the 677 Military Police Platoon in the 12th Armored Division during World War II. He participated in several campaigns in areas such as Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. His decorations include the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered on February 17, 1945, Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars. Following his return from the war, he married the former Matilda Roth on May 20, 1950 at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Masury, OH and together they have shared more than Fifty-Nine years of marriage. Carl went on to work for Westinghouse Electric in Sharon, PA for more than forty years before his retirement in 1987. Carl was a lifetime member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Masury, OH. He was also a Third Degree Member of the Masury Knights of Columbus Council #3984. He also enjoyed playing Eucker with several of his friends on Wednesday's. Mr. Benadella is survived by his wife Tillie at home; and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother Carmen Benadella; and his sister Mary Papale. Closing Prayers will begin at 9:45AM on Monday Lane Funeral Homes Madasz Chapel, Brookfield, Ohio followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Masury, OH with Rev. Frank Zanni and Rev. John Lody as concelebrants. Calling hours will be held Sunday November 15, 2009 from 3-7 PM at the funeral home. Pallbears for Mr. Benadella will be Raymond Allison, John Shargo, Timothy Letourneau, Richard Moore, James Weller, and Gary Roth. Burial will be at Brookfield Twp. Cemetery where full military honors will be performed by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 7808 Locust Street Masury, OH 44438 or the Great East of Ohio Chapter of Alzheimer's Association 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road Canfield, OH 44406 to further Alzheimer’s Research towards a cure.
