David Alexander Shears, age 69 of Austintown, Ohio passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:56 PM at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown from complications of respiratory and heart failure. He was born on October 17, 1945 in Youngstown, the son of the late Fred and Irene Vasko Shears. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Mary Agnes Cuhran, who was by his side for 48 years since September 24, 1966; his son David of Austintown; and two sisters, Kathryn "Kathy" (Joseph) Mancini of Youngstown, and Carol (Clifford) Fitch of Youngstown. Other than his parents, David was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Shears. He made his home is Austintown, Ohio, since his graduation from Wilson High School in 1964. Mr. Shears was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #396 for 53 years, where he retired from Prout Boiler Heating and Welding. His entire life was dedicated to his family, serving as an assistant scoutmaster for the BSA while his boys were growing up. He gave selflessly to all who knew him, and always had a kind word for whomever he encountered. He also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and pampering his dog, Dixie. He will be sorely missed by all. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, where Father Gregory F. Fedor will celebrate David's life.
