Donald Flammer Gohlke passed away Wednesday afternoon at Renaissance North Healthcare Center. Born September 15, 1925 in Detroit, MI, a son of the late Leonard and Josephine Flammer Gohlke, Don moved to this area in 1967. Don served in World War II in the United States Marine Corps and was an Iwo Jima survivor. He retired in 1989, after 30 years of service as a truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight. After retirement Don worked at Network Connectors. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 5-1, and a former member of the Warren Barber Shoppers (SPEBSQSA). Don will be sadly missed by his wife the former Colleen Bennett, whom he married September 14, 1974; eight children: Jo Ellen (Bill) Gulf of Youngstown, Corry (George) McKinley of Youngstown, Kelly Gohlke of Dennison, OH, Paula Welser of Hertford, NC, Jennifer (Brent) Roberts of Searcy, AK, James Gohlke of Lorraine, Mark Gohlke of Berlin Center and Gary (Maxine) Gohlke of Jamestown, PA; one sister Barbara Alsip of Indiantown, FL; twenty eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Don is preceded in death by a son Keith Douglas Gohlke, who passed away July 1, 2000. Funeral services will be 7 pm Monday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel where friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm.
