There will be a memorial service 3:30 PM Tuesday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church for Edward N. Nelson who passed away Friday morning at Forum Health Northside Medical Center. Ed was born April 30, 1919 in Laurium, MI a son of the late Nels A. and Mattie (Hall) Nelson. Ed graduated from Houghton High School in 1937 and then from Michigan Technological University in 1941 earning a degree in metallurgy. He started as a metallurgist for American Steel and Wire in Cleveland and then continued his career at Cold Metal Products and the research lab of Sheet and Tube. Ed retired from Thomas Strip in Warren. He was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church, the Downtown YMCA, and a former member of ASM. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and being with his family. Ed has been a devoted and loving husband to his wife of 66 years, Joyce Kaiser Nelson whom he married April 4, 1942. He is also survived by his son Edward J. Nelson and his wife Priscilla and their children: Nico and Tyler all of Pepper Pike, and his daughter Susan Latess and her husband Dennis of North Lima. Besides his parents, Ed is preceded in death by two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Regional Kidney Foundation, 4288 Market St., Suite 240, Boardman, OH 44512 in Ed's name. The Nelson family would like to thank the nurses, staff and doctors at the CAPD for their wonderful help and support. Family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM Tuesday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
