Erma J. Batta

ERMA J. BATTA Austintown- Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Erma J. Batta age 84 of 4841 Kirk Rd. who died Monday evening in St. Elizabeth Hospital. Erma was born Sept. 20, 1920 in Campbell and was the daughter of Balazs and Vera (Kerekes) Chepke. She was a member of American Hungarian Reform Church in Youngstown, a member of the American Legion Aux. #737 of Lake Milton and the 8 & 40 Salon #336. She was a homemaker and avid sports fan. Her husband, Albert B. Batta whom she married Sept. 20, 1941 died Jan. 7, 2004. She is survived by two children, Janet Batta of Austintown, A. Dennis Batta of North Jackson, a sister Marge Iaguli of Austintown, three brothers, George Chepke of Diamond, Gene Chepke of Canfield, Thomas Chepke of Charlotte, N.C., 4 grandchildren, Michael and Andrew Cone, Brenton and Ryan Batta and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael D. Batta and six brothers, Charles, John, William, Martin, Frank and Joseph Chepke. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 PM Wed. The family requests that material contributions take the form of donations to the Joseph D. Chepke Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Austintown Fitch High School.
