Esther B. Holik, 88 formerly of Johnston Township, died Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born June 27, 1927 in Warren, the daughter of the late Glenn Otis and Myrabell Button Burnett. She had been a Johnston Township resident for 61 years. Esther was a 1945 graduate of Mecca High School and worked at Burlington Coat Factory for 13 years until 1996. She was a member of West Mecca United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Happy Crafters and enjoyed crafts and gardening. Esther loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Robin (James) Yost of Mecca and Pamela (Robert) Young of Warren; four grandchildren, Cassandra (Brandon) Stewart, Andrew and Eleanor Yost and Elizabeth Young; three great granddaughters, Brianna, Presley and Piper Stewart; two brothers, Charles Burnett of Warren and Alton Burnett of Cyril, Oklahoma; two stepsons and two stepdaughters. Her husband of over 37 years, Nicklos L. Holik, whom she married October 22, 1960 preceded in death in 1998. Two sisters, Myra Crim and Charlotte Smith and four brothers, William, Howard, Glenn and Gail Burnett have also preceded her in death. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor Ron McIlvaine will officiate. Burial will be at Johnston Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown Kingsville Rd. SE, Vienna, OH 44473.
