A memorial service will be held at a later date for Frank L. McCormick, 83, who passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Briarfiled Nursing Home. Frank was born April 6, 1931 in Youngstown the son of the late Robert L. and Goldie (Smeal) McCormick. From 1962 until 1991 Frank lived in California returning to the area in 1991. He was a machinist by trade and was also a substitute teacher for the Mahoning County Joint Vocational School. Frank was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and had attended Youngstown Collage. He was a Navy Veteran and had worked on the first nuclear submarine the Navy used. He was a member of Wickcliff Christian Church and he was an armature HAM Radio Operator. Frank loved to travel and his hobbies included bowling and fishing. Most of all Frank loved spending time with his family. His wife the former Agnes Boughner passed away in 2004. Frank leaves one son, Bob (Thelma) McCormick of Struthers, three daughters, Marilyn (Terry) Gilliam of Washington State, Sue (Bob) Tobias of Houston Texas, and Carol (Dave) Polumbo of Youngstown, two step children, Barbara (Bob) Roy and Dian (Ron) Cook both of California, one step son-in-law, Butch Walker, one brother Louie McCormick of Cleveland, 24 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Frank was preceded in death by one brother Ernie, two step children, Robert Lepsik and Polly Walker, and one grandson, Thomas Hampton. Visitation and services will be held at a later date.
