George "Dick" Fisher, age 71 of Cortland passed away unexpectedly on February 7, 2017. Dick was born on June 17, 1945 in Webster Springs, West Virginia. He grew up in a home filled with 20 siblings and learned young the value of hard work. Dick spent his career in construction working as a brick mason. After he retired, Dick often would head out to the lake for some fishing, and there was always the mandatory stops at the local market for scratch off lottery tickets. However, his passion was his family. He was a care giver at heart and would always make sure others had what they needed, always putting others before himself. His family brought him great joy and being a grandpa was his greatest joy. Dick is survived by his children Matthew (Angela) Fisher, Lisa (Jason) Allen and Susan Fisher, his mother Josephine Fisher-Williams, his grandchildren Spencer & Conner Fisher, Alaina(Jordan) Ryan, Maggie & Raena Allen and Natalie Dauber, his great-grandchildren Jackson, Greyson & Arabella Ryan; his siblings Tinker, Cubby, Dana, Dorlene, Chuck, Rick, Flonda, Jane, Junior, Hank, Pete, Chris, Bruce, Maddie, Coleen, Honey Bun and Debbie, his first wife Marsha Moffatt and his second wife Judy Fisher as well as numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronald & Frank and his sister Betty. Visitation will be held on Sunday February 12, 2017 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel; 164 N. High Street, Cortland, OH 44410 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
