George T. Manus, 88, of Warren, died Wednesday afternoon, February 28, 2007 at 1:30PM at St. Joseph Health Center after a short illness. Born February 1, 1919 in Warren, George was the son of the late Thomas and Pauline (Komedina) Manus. A life long Warren area resident, George was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School where he was a star basketball and baseball player and was also the quarterback of the Varsity football team. He was a veteran of the United States Army during WWII and served with the 37th Ohio division, was a paratrooper with the 101st Air borne division and the 17th Air Borne for 5 years. George was employed at Packard Electric where we worked as an Artos cutter. He retired in 1982. George was a member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown and also the St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Warren. An active member of the Traveling Tuesday Golf Group for retirees, George was known area-wide for his roasted lamb and pigs, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and cooking. He married Olga Adams September 29, 1946. Together they shared 60 years of marriage and four children. George will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Olga of Warren, three daughters, Georgann (Tod) Manus Blair of North Ridgeville, Pamela (Jerry) Manus Coghlan of Vermilion, and Cathy (Robert) Manus-Gray of Cuyahoga Falls, 7 Grandchildren; Rachael and Keith Blair, Timothy, Theresa, and Katelynn Coghlan, Meagan (Jason) Manus Heath, and Brandi (Steve) Baillie, 2 great grandchildren, a sister Mary DeCandio of Kissimmee, FL, and daughter-in-law Marsha Manus of Warren. He was preceded in death by a son, Emil T. Manus and by a brother Nicholas Bosonac. Calling hours will be held Friday at the Roberts Clark Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7PM where a prayer service will be held at 6:30PM and Saturday morning from 10 to 10:30AM at the funeral home. The Very Rev. John Rajlich will conduct a funeral Mass Saturday, March 3, 2007 at 11AM at the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown. Burial will take place in the Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna Twp where full military honors will be observed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George’s memory to the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church at 53 Laird Avenue Youngstown, OH 44509 or to Hospice of the Valley at 1296 Tod Pl. NW Suite 202 Warren, OH 44485.
