LaVerne M. Platt, of Lordstown, passed away peacefully, Dec. 4, 2012, at Humility House. She was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Warren, the daughter of Ellis and Elizabeth Mansell. LaVerne was a deaconess and member of Lordstown Christian Church, Newton Falls Hobby Hunters, the Lordstown CCL, and the Lordstown Ladies Auxiliary Fire Dept. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in the Wagon Wheel Trailer Club, doing arts and crafts and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her son; Robert (Karen) Platt, of Lordstown, her daughter; Karen (Ken) Purnell, of Lordstown, a sister Ardine Platt, of Lordstown, seven grandchildren; Ron (Shawna) Purnell, Pamela (Mike) Fultz, Penny (Dave) Durig, Patty Slone, Robert S. Platt and fianc Deidre Delgado, Jeremy Platt, and Jessica Platt and fianc Doug Senne, and ten great grandchildren; Dillon, Lindsay, Evan, Alyssa, Megan, Julia, Emily, David, Mary and Destiney. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband William Platt, whom she married April 4, 1941, a sister May Platt and her parents. Friends will be received Fri. Dec. 7, 2012 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sat. Dec. 8, 2012, at 10:00AM, at the Austintown Chapel Interment will be at Lordstown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
