Mary Magdaline Szelest

AUSTINTOWN: Mary M. (Siwicki) Szelest, age 96, formerly of Mineral Ridge, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Humility House in Austintown. Mary was born in Struthers, Ohio on February 13, 1918 to parents; Mike and Helen (Telego) Siwicki. Mary married Stanley J. Szelest on May 24, 1941, and together they had two children. Mary was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mineral Ridge Women's Guild of St. Mary's, and former member of 55 plus club. Mary loved gardening. She was a collector of many unique items and enjoyed dogs. Survivors include her daughter; Mary M. (David) Rek of Mineral Ridge, and her granddaughter; Jessica Rek, of Mineral Ridge. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Shirley Stone, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Niles, Ohio.
