Pauline M. Phillips of Farmdale, Ohio, died at 5:59 PM Saturday (2-7-2009) in St. Joseph Medical Center, Warren, Ohio, following an extended illness. She was 90. Pauline was born at home in Johnston Twp., Ohio on October 11, 1918, a daughter of Mark and Florence (Agler) Howk. A 1937 graduate from Johnston High School, Mrs. Phillips retired in 1981 from the Packard Electric after 30 years. She was a member of Johnston Federated United Methodist Church and in her spare time, she enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting, and raising horses with her husband. She was a loving mother to her children, Mary Lou Sicuro & her husband Jim, Champion, OH, Catherine Sinopoli & her husband Tom, Brookfield, OH, Margery Hine & her husband Carlon, Kinsman, OH, James R. Phillips & his wife Sharon, Johnston Twp., OH, and Paulette Williams & her husband Martin, Kinsman; a sister to Jessie Millikin & Joan Battison, both of Johnston Twp.; and a most loving grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren; and her twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, James J. Phillips, whom she married June 1937, he died September 28, 1981; by her great-grandchildren, Mara & Ben Minor; and by her sisters, Georgia Bouck, Madeline Shaffer, and Jean Brown. In accordance with her wishes, no calling hours or services will be scheduled. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
