Columbiana- Memorial services will be held 11 AM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home-Canfield Chapel for Raymond E. Corll, age 77 of Columbiana who died late Monday evening in Salem Community Hospital Emergency Room. Ray was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Canfield and was the son of the late Raymond Sr. and Virginia (Bancroft) Corll. He had done custom farming for George Miller and had been a farmer for 50 years. He had worked for American Fire Clay for 33 years as a welder and dispatcher and had also worked for Lotema and National Rubber Machinery where he retired. He had served six years in the Army Reserves serving in the combat engineers and was a member of the Canfield United Methodist Church where he had sang in the choir, singing many solos. Ray was a 1948 graduate of Canfield High School where he played football and basketball. His love in life was farming. Ray is survived by his wife, the former Margaret Cunning whom he married in 1953. He also leaves two sons, Jack (Sarah) Corll and Jeff (Pam) Corll both of Columbiana, a brother Robert Corll of Canfield , five grandchildren; Jack (Nicole) Corll of Deerfield, Nicole (Rich) Witmer of Wooster, Ben, Adam and Emily Corll all of Columbiana and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Thursday. The family requests that material contributions be made to the Canfield United Methodist Church.
