Raymond L. Zents, Sr. age 85 Austintown- Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Raymond L. Zents, Sr. of Boardman, who passed away on Sunday afternoon at his home. Raymond was born March 1, 1918 in Youngstown, the son of Orice and Nina (Miller) Zents. He married the former Katherine Litwin on September 3, 1938. Reverend and Mrs. Zents served as missionaries with the Assemblies of God in Burkina Faso, West Africa for over thirty six years. While there, they were instrumental in the planting of churches, translating the Bible into the language of the Mossi people and did extensive village evangelism. After retirement, Raymond remained active in the Highway Tabernacle Church where he was a member. He continued to minister in churches and nursing homes, as well as organizing Missions conferences. Besides his wife, Mr. Zents leaves two children: Raymond Zents, Jr. of Brussels, Belgium and June A. Palfrey of Cortland. He also leaves a brother George Zents of Goshen Twp. as well as five grandchildren and a great grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Norman and Adrian Zents and a sister Helen Stevens. Friends and family may call from 3-6 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to The Zents Endowment c/o the Highway Tabernacle Church or Hospice at Forum Health.
