Austintown-Services celebrating the life of Rev. Charles Ruby will be held Friday 11am at Grace Nazarene Church on Webb Rd. Charles was born March 5, 1929 in Wood, PA. the son of Jesse E. and Elizabeth Rabenstein Ruby. He was the associate pastor of Grace Church; he retired as full time pastor in 1995 after serving as pastor in Minerva, East Palestine, West Point and Central Churches. Charles was ordained in 1979 and was honored to receive the Distinguished Award Church of the Nazarene. He also retired from General Motors in 1993 after 27 years of service. Charles loved to hunt, fish and camp. Along with his wife Dorothy, were foster parents for many children for over 30 years. He was also a veteran, serving in the Army during the Korean War. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy J. (Bair) Ruby whom he married March 29, 1954, children, Charles (Pam) Ruby of McDonald and Pastor Carol (Jim) Myers of Louisville. He is also survived by his brothers; Max of Austintown, Lester, Vaughn and Norman all of Pa. He will be missed by his grandchildren; Mandy (Jim), Shannon (Neal), Melissa, Crystal, Charles, David and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Blache Woodring and 3 brothers Bud, Dean & Don Ruby. The Ruby family would like to thank Dr. Gregg Facemyer and staff and Dr. Stille and staff for the care and compassion given to them during Charles illness. The family has set up a memorial fund in Rev. Ruby's name for less fortunate children to attend the District Children's Camp. Family and friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel and from 10-11am Friday at the church prior to services.
