Richard R. Hawkins, Sr, 80, of Champion, passed away July 15, 2014 in Cleveland, OH. He was born June 14, 1934 in Paris, OH, son of John and Eldora (Fobes) Hawkins. Rich was a 1952 graduate of Deming High School, and worked as an Assembler at Packard Electric for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Champion Christian Church and was once a member of the choir. He enjoyed spending time riding his scooter, but what he loved most was playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was a big kid at heart. Richard is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lora (Scott); five children, Richard, Jr. (Diane) Hawkins of Euharlee, GA, Pamela (Jari) Karttunen of Harpers Ferry, WV, Scott (Mary) Hawkins of Warren, Deirdre (Randy) Filimon of Strongsville and Michele (Barry) Adkins of Warren; 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Thomas and Sylvia Gochneaur and one brother Larry Hawkins. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandson. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 PM at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel 180 Garfield, Warren, OH 44483. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at the Champion Christian Church 151 Center St. W, Warren, OH 44481. Interment will follow at the Champion Township Cemetery.
