Austintown- Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home-Austintown Chapel for Rodney A. VanMeter, Jr. age 22 of Austintown who died Friday from injuries from an auto accident. Rodney was born May 25, 1985 in Warren and was the son of Rodney A. Sr. and Rose (Holko) VanMeter. He had been employed at the Canfield Post Office where he was a mail carrier. Rodney attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 2003 where he had played soccer and had also played soccer for the Sons of Italy. He loved to ride motorcycles and snow board and play with his Golden Retriever Izzy. Rodney is survived by his mother Rose Cicconi of Austintown, his father and stepmother Rodney and Charlotte VanMeter of Point Pleasant, WV, his former stepfather Clem Cicconi, his grandparents George R. and Joanne Holko of Warren, John and Josephine VanMeter of Warren and a great grandmother Beatrice "Mammie" Russell of West Columbia, WV. He leaves his sister Stephanie Van Meter of Brookfield, his step sister Miranda Thompson of Point Pleasant, WV, his girl friend Mandy Rooper of Austintown, and two special friends, Wilma Almasi and her son Derreck Almasi of Austintown. Rodney also leaves Aunts and Uncles, Deb Swindler of Girard, Rick and Debra Holko of Cortland, Vince and Joyce Holko of Cortland, Teresa Van Meter of Keisterville, Pa., Bobbie Jo and Jim Lloyd of Cherry Tree, Pa. and eight first cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle John Van Meter, Jr. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 PM Monday. The family requests that material contributions be made to Angel for Animals
