Rosalia Marie "Rosie" Duff, 69 of Champion Township, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday morning, June 30, 2016, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She had been blessed with 25 extra years of life after surviving stage 4 ovarian cancer. Rosie was born March 13, 1947 in Warren, the daughter of the late Anthony Thomas and Rosemary Victoria Zupec Gabrovsek. She was a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Rosie was a 1965 graduate of Howland High School and graduated in 1979 from the Choffin School of Nursing. She worked for 23 years as an LPN in the Post Anesthesia Recovery Room at Warren General Hospital, retiring from St. Joseph Hospital in 2001. Rosie was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cortland, where she was a member of the Cornerstone Quilters. She was a member of the Warren-Youngstown WYPANA professional organization and the Champion Kiwanis Club. Rosie enjoyed sewing, quilting and all crafts known to mankind. She also volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and was an avid Ohio State fan. Rosie loved her family very much. She was a devoted wife, a cheerleader for her two daughters and an adoring Nana to her grandchildren. She loved her 3 brothers, sisters-in-law and all her nieces and nephews. She served as an encouragement to her many friends. Rosie loved Jesus and desired that others would know him as their personal Savior, just as she did. She was a loving and faithful wife and is survived by her husband of nearly 45 years, John M. Duff, whom she married July 24, 1971; two daughters, Renee M. (Ronald) Dadbeh-Christy of Cincinnati and Jennifer M. (Daniel) Stevens of Clinton Twp., Mich.; six grandchildren, Micah John Dadbeh, Lillie Anna and Johanna Christy and Abraham, Oliver and Naomi Stevens; two brothers, Thomas (Ruth) Gabrovsek of Vienna and Joseph (Pam) Gabrovsek of North Bloomfield; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Gabrovsek of Champion and her best friend of 58 years, Anna Patrick Churman. Rosalie was preceded in death by one son, Jon Michael Duff in 1976; one brother, Jacob and a grandson, Ezra Jude Stevens. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. Pastor Gary Crawford will officiate. Burial will be at Champion Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ezra Project or to other missions ministries that spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
