Rose "Rosie' Marie Panko, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Rose had suffered brain damage from a diabetic related illness five years ago, and had been under the compassionate care of Liberty Heatlhcare Center and Hospice of the Valley. Rose was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania April 1, 1934 to Stephen and Anna Mahanovich. In 1956, she married William Panko. Within their 53 year marriage they raised four children and enjoyed nine grandchildren. Rose's proudest accomplishment was becoming a nurse in 1975. In 1990 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Youngstown State University. Her greatest gift was caring for others. Rose's hands helped heal many patients and taught many nursing students. Rose is preceded in death by her husband, her sons William, Charles, and John; and her eight siblings. Rose is survived by her daughter Karen Bartone of Niles; nine grandchildren, Vincenzo, Annalise, and Lillia Bartone of Niles, Steven Panko of Los Angeles, CA, Beth Panko of Erie, PA, Rachael Panko of Sharon, PA, John Uriah and Elijah Panko of Howland. A Memorial Service will be 6PM, Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Lane Funeral Home, Madasz Chapel, in Brookfield. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
