WARREN - Ruth "Gram" (Miller) Dugan passed peacefully to the next chapter in her life on the afternoon of July 30, 2014 in the St. Elizabeth Health Center SICU. Ruth was born January 10, 1920 in Canton, one of 11 children of the late Charles and Ruth Miller. Though she had no children of her own, she was the surrogate "Gram" to her many siblings' children and grandchildren. Ruth, when in her early 20's, took in and raised into adulthood her younger 5 siblings when both parents passed away. She is survived by three of them: Daisy Miller Payne (currently in Texas), Paul (and Patty) Miller (residing in Cortland, OH), and Artie Miller (currently in Maryland.) She was preceded in death by her other brothers and sisters: Viola (Daddle), Roy, Edwin, Charlie, Adam, Leona and Cleo (Peanut). Ruth graduated from Prairie College. She made her way to Warren where she worked at Packard Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1974. Her husband, Johnny, had retired from Republic Steel and the two of them enjoyed traveling the United States, living for a while in Oregon, Texas and Florida before heading back to Warren. Here she became a widow in 1998. Her many nieces and nephews know that her greatest gift was the way she gave her time and attention to them and to others. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. "I don't fib," she'd say with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, "I just don't always tell the truth." She was an avid crafter, always hanging her creations outside on trees per the season's holidays. For the past ten years, she's been living with nephew Donald "Butchie" and Laura Miller in Boardman. She loved playing bingo, reading cook books, and buying kitchen gadgets. She loved shopping at dollar stores, especially for toys for "them kids", which in the end was the 5-year old son of the in-home aid. No funeral services are currently planned. Ruth's final resting place will be in the hills of Oregon.
