Shirley Mae Benoit Thompson, 86 of Howland passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. Born in Warren on April 28, 1924, Shirley is the daughter of the late Charles Lang and Marietta (Miller) Freer. Shirley worked as an admissions clerk at Warren General Hospital for 17 years. Shirley enjoyed reading, music, gardening, decorating and feeding the birds. She was an extensive traveler, having traveled throughout the US and Caribbean Islands. Shirley lived in North Fort Myers, Florida for many years before moving back to the Warren area. She is survived by her two children; Richard (Linda L.) Benoit of Cortland and Sandy L. (Kenneth) James of Apache Junction, Arizona; six grandchildren; Mark James, Mike James, Christine James, Kimberly Fix, Kerri Lynn Pykare, and Barry James Benoit; 10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson, Carter. A memorial service will be 4pm on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, Warren with Mr. Jerry Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 2pm until the time of the service. Family and friends may view this obituary online and send condolences to www.robertsclarkchapel.com.
