William H. Gregory, Sr., age 75 of Leavittsburg died Thursday morning, September 3, 2015, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born July 25, 1940 in Warren, the son of the late Robert E. and Goldie Mae Christlieb Gregory Sr. He had been a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Bill was a 1959 graduate of Leavittsburg High School. He then served in the U.S. Navy. He retired in 2002 from the transportation dept. at WCI Steel (Republic Steel), after 38 years service. Bill was a volunteer Warren Township firefighter for 40 years, where he served as assistant chief, mechanic and served on several teams at Station 47. He enjoyed going to "Fire Scope" at Station 47 and was a member of Warren SCOPE. Bill loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His wife of nearly 41 years, Sandra Jean Myers Gregory, whom he married October 6, 1962, preceded him in death August 12, 2003. One son, William H. Gregory Jr. and four brothers, Robert E. Gregory Jr., Lyle Gregory, Richard E. Gregory and Ernest "Bud" Smith also have preceded him in death. Bill is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. (Ronald) Bockelman of Braceville and Sondra L. Gregory of Leavittsburg; one son, Edward A. Gregory of Warren; a daughter-in-law, Kathlene (Bill) Grable of North Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Nicole (Robert) Kren, Ashley Gregory, and Adam and Andria Bockelman; one sister, Virginia Raznoff of Mecca Twp.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gregory of Bazetta and Hazel Gregory of North Carolina and some special neighbors, to whom he was especially close. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the funeral service will follow at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with fire dept. Chaplain Deon Jones officiating. The final resting place will be at Pine Knoll Cemetery in Warren Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Warren Township Fireman's Assoc. of Station 47, 4750 West Market St., Leavittsburg, OH 44430.
