A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Wednesday in St. Michael Church in Canfield for William John Morvay Sr., 81, who passed away Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center surrounded by his family. Bill was born July 30, 1930 in Youngstown the son of John and Rose (Torok) Morvay. He was a graduate of East High School class of 1948, received his degree in teaching from Youngstown College and his master's in education from Westminster College. He taught for 5 years in the Brookfield School District before starting his career in Youngstown, Bill was an educator in the City School system including Choffin, as an assistant Principal at South and Hillman. He spent 3 years as OWE Coordinator at South and Choffin, 6 years as a counselor at South and 2 years as a 6th grade teacher at Williamson. Bill retired June 20, 1987 after 28 years of service. During the summer months Bill was Manager of the Putt Putt at Idora Park for more than 10 years. He also worked for the food bank where he was the Procurer of Donations. He was a member of the Teacher Association, the Boardman Lions Club, and the Bone Crushers. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved fixing things. He leaves his wife, the former Shirley Wilkes whom he married September 20, 1952, their five children, William (Andrea) Morvay Jr. of Boardman, John (Karen) Morvay of Canfield, Dr. David (Debora) Morvay of Cortland, Laurie Morvay-Kalima of Greenford, and Joseph (Theresa) Morvay of Niceville, FL., one sister, Irene Morvay of Youngstown, and 15 grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by one grandson, Daniel John Morvay. The family will receive friends Wednesday following the services in the back of the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be sent in Bill's name to the Mahoning County Food Bank
