William M. (Bill) Ward, 91, formerly of North Canton, OH, passed away peacefully in Warren, OH, April, 19, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born March 22, 1927 and spent his childhood in Streator, IL. Bill attended Northwestern University in Chicago, but enlisted in the Navy during WWII, serving as a Navy Seaman 1st Class. Bill received an honorable discharge post Navy and enrolled at Beloit College in Wisconsin, earning a BA in Political Science. At Beloit, Bill was active in theater as a member of the Rockford Players and was a member of the distinguished Phi Beta Kappa Society. After college, Bill worked in Labor Relations for Babcock and Wilcox, Owens-Illinois Glass, and later Hercules Motors Corporation in Canton, OH. Bill enjoyed the arts. He was an accomplished classical pianist with a love of Schumann and Rachmaninoff as well as George Gershwin. He also loved to cook and bake, his family being blessed with homemade chocolate eclairs as a specialty. Bill, along with his wife Dottie and children, were long time members of Faith United Methodist Church in North Canton. Bill is survived by his son Robert (Elizabeth) Ward of Howland Twp. OH, daughter, Mary Ward (Todd) Kuramoto of Cincinnati, OH and 4 grandchildren; Sarah Ward, and Brian, Chris, and Mollie Kuramoto. He was preceded in death by his wife Dottie Ward and his two siblings. A celebration of Bills life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 am at Faith United Methodist Church, 300 Ninth Street, North Canton, OH, 44720. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith United Methodist Church or The Shepherds Foundation, Warren, supporting Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services, 4100 North River Rd., N.E., Warren, OH, 44484.
