Addison “Addie” Parker Beard, age 13, passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2020, at her home in Mineral Ridge, OH, surrounded by her family. Born on October 22, 2007, in Youngtown, OH to parents Aleshia (Williams) Beard and Benjamin Beard, both of Mineral Ridge. Addie was known for her gentle, kind, and thoughtful nature as well as for her beautiful, long blonde hair. She was an honor student at Mineral Ridge High School who loved Disney World, cats (especially her cat, Milly), cheerleading and swimming. Addie was the type of child who brightened every room she entered, and the world will be less vibrant without her.
Addie is survived by her parents and her loving sister, Brooklynn, as well as her maternal great-grandmother, Joan Minick; paternal grandparents Ben and Lindel Beard; maternal grandparents Robert and Jullane Williams; aunt Vanessa (Joe) Warneke; Uncle Brian (Laurie) Beard; cousins Allissa Beard and Jessica Warneke; and many other relatives and friends. Addie was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Russell F. Minick, who taught her the importance of having Jesus in her heart, and who is surely caring for her now as they are together in heaven. Addie left this world far too soon as a result of a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Her family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and other caregivers at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Cleveland Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Specifically, Addie received excellent care from Dr. Rachel Egler, Dr. Nicole Fowler, and Dr. Brian Turpin. For those wishing to donate, in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to the Rainbow Foundation, Angie Fowler Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Institute or the Cancer & Blood Diseases Institute of Cincinnati Children’s.
Addie’s family also extends heartfelt thanks to the Mineral Ridge community for the incredible kindness it has shown throughout Addie’s illness and beyond. Words are inadequate to express how much the support from family, friends and even strangers has meant to them. The community’s outpouring of love and generosity during this most difficult time has been overwhelming and it will never be forgotten.
