Alan D. Beach, 65 of Johnston Township died Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2017 at his home from long term health problems. He was born May 26, 1951 in Sugar Creek Twp., Venango Co., Pennsylvania the son of the late Walter James "Bud" Beach and Beverly May Sloss Beach of Cortland. He had been a Trumbull county resident most of his life. Alan was a 1970 graduate of Lakeview High School. He graduated from Ford Motor Company mechanics training and later earned numerous welding certifications. He last worked for Glunt Machine Shop in Warren and Niles and worked as a welder for many years including the shipyards in Tampa, Fla. and constructing Disney World's Epcot Park dome. Previously he worked for Anderson Ford in Cortland. Alan also worked as a mechanic at the family business with his Dad, Beach's Sunoco in Cortland from 1970-74. Alan had attended Cortland Trinity Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed drag racing Ford Mustangs and loved building muscle cars and trucks. Alan loved and owned several German Shepherd dogs and enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, water skiing, scuba diving and online gaming. Alan is survived and will be greatly missed by his mother, Beverly M. Beach of Cortland; two brothers, Gary L. (Gladys) Beach Sr. of Champion and Walter G. (Kathy) Beach of Amherst; three nephews, Lee (Stacy) Beach, Chad (Amanda) Beach and Jeremy (Chelsea) Beach; and one niece, Alyssa (Dan) Hazlett II. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m. immediately followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland. Pastor William Aiken will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Graham Cemetery in Congress Hill, Pennsylvania.
