Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Alberto F. Gonzales of Austintown, who died early Friday morning at his home. "Mr.G.", as he was affectionately known by friends, was born September 13, 1930 in Dixon, NM, a son of Abel and Teofila (Trujillo) Gonzales. After losing his parents at an early age, he was raised by his great aunt and uncle Frank and Damaris Martinez. He then came to this area in 1969. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving for 23 years before his retirement. After leaving the service he worked for St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown as Director of Central Sterile Supplies for 21 years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers fan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Judy Moyer, whom he married September 29, 1956. He also leaves three children; Lydia Gonzales of Austintown, Albert Gonzales of Austintown, and Frank (Maria) Gonzales also of Austintown; three brothers; Mardo Blanco and Manuel Blanco, both of California, and Nobert Blanco of Dixon, NM; one sister, Clara Valesquez of California; four grandchildren; Sule (Ron) Marinelli of Austintown, Lysette Gonzales of Boardman, and Jay and Dominique Gonzalez of Poland; and two great grandsons; Geno and Sergio Marinelli. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Antonio Gonzales and Arturo Blanco. Friends may call from 5-8pm Monday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will take place at Green Haven Cemetery.
