Mr. Alexander Papiernik, 73, of Mineral Ridge, died Friday morning, May 10th, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
He was born April 20, 1951 in the United Kingdom, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kozma) Papiernik.
Alex came to the U.S. as a baby and was raised in Youngstown. He was a 1969 graduate of Ursuline High School and then went on to YSU and Carnegie Mellon University, achieving a Bachelor degree in electrical engineering. He worked for US Extrusions and North American Tool and Die, his family businesses, for many years prior to retiring.
He married the former Carla S. Osborne on June 30, 1977. They shared almost 47 years of marriage and many wonderful memories together. She survives him.
Alex was a member of the Italian Family Home in Girard where he enjoyed having drinks and socializing with his friends. He was also an avid golfer and loved listening to music. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.
Besides his wife, Alex is survived by three children; Candice Raines, of Columbus, Brandi Papiernik, of Pittsburgh, and Alexander (Heather) Papiernik, II, also of Pittsburgh. He also leaves behind two brothers, Andrew (Janet) Papiernik, of Indiana, and Thadius Papiernik, of Mineral Ridge; and three beloved grandchildren; Morgan, Olivia, and Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Diana Cunneen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, May 16th at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.
Friends may call from noon to 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association, in Alex's memory.
