Mrs. Alice Jean Corll, 91, of Canfield, died Wednesday morning, June 26th, at her residence.
Alice was born October 26, 1932 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late James E. and Geraldine (Gerthing) Hopes.
She was a 1951 graduate of Youngstown South High School and attended Trumbull Memorial Nursing School. She spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.
Alice married Chauncey Jay Corll on July 5th, 1952. They shared 59 years of marriage and many wonderful memories together. He preceded her in death April 15, 2011.
She was a member of the Smith Corners Community Church in Austintown where she taught Sunday school for years, was an active member of the Methodist Women Society, and served on several committees. She was also a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau, served as secretary of Austintown Council, and she volunteered for seniors.
Alice is survived by her five children; David (Kathy) Corll, of Potage, IN, Ronald Corll, of Austintown, Paul (Diana) Corll, of North Carolina, Michael (Erin) Corll, of Youngstown, and Nora (Brian) Ranalli, of Niles. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren; Sarah, Megan, Heather, Jennifer, David, Duane, Dustin, Amanda, Elaine, Marissa, Johnny, Jay, Nicky, and Madeline; and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a daughter, Gerry Williams; an infant son, Chauncey Jay, III; a sister, Evelyn Moore; and a brother, Jim Hopes.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 2nd, at the Smith Corners Community Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Rd., Austintown.
Friends may call 4-7 PM Monday, July 1st, and for one hour prior to services on Tuesday, at the Smith Corners Community Church.
She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Boardman.
Arrangements for Mrs. Corll are being provided by the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.
