There will be a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Sunday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church for Alice Jean McClure, 83, who passed away Wednesday evening at Danridges Burgundi Manor in Youngstown. She was born November 12, 1934 in Youngstown, a daughter of Harvey Guy and Helen Dieter Starr. Jean was a Dietician with Youngstown Hospital Associations North Side Unit and St. Elizabeth Hospital and worked with nutrition for the elderly. She was a 1953 graduate of South High School, had attended Baldwin Wallace College and received her Bachelor Degree in Dietetics from Youngstown State University. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she was the piano player for the nursery. Jean was also a member of Eastern Star, where she was a Past Matron of both Miriam and Trias Chapters. She was a member of Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters, No. 23. Jean enjoyed the Youngstown Playhouse, where she was a volunteer. She taught cooking at Mahoning County Joint Vocational School. Jean had a special love for animals and also enjoyed cooking and knitting. Jeans husband, L. Dean McClure, whom she married Dec. 21, 1968, died Oct. 13, 2002. Jean is survived by her daughter, Starr E. McClure of Columbus; her sister, Dr. Marjorie L. Starr of Las Vegas, NV and her grand kittys, Shadow and Tinkerbelle. Besides her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James R. Slack. Starr would like to give special thanks to the staff at Danridges Burgundi Manor for caring for Jean so well. Memorial contributions may be given to the Youngstown Playhouse, P.O.
