Alvaro F. "Al" Citarella, age 85 formerly of Bazetta died Wednesday afternoon, October 18, 2017, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. He was born March 2, 1932 in New Jersey the son of the late Italo and Catherine Falivina Citarella. He lived for many years in Mahoning county. Al graduated from high school in New Jersey. He retired from the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad, after working for many years as a brakeman. He owned and operated Citarella's Pizza Shop in Sebring for several years. Al was of the Catholic faith and attended Champion Presbyterian Church with his wife, Joan for several years. He loved his plain cake donuts and coffee. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus, was an avid golfer in his younger days, an active league bowler and enjoyed going out to dinner with his wife. Al is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joan Amy Plank Cheney-Citarella of Mineral Ridge, whom he married September 13, 1993; two sons, Robert (Deb) Citarella of Denver, Colo. and Joey Citarella of Noonan, Georgia; 5 grandchildren; five stepchildren, Brian Cheney and Mary Kundus both of Hudson, Wisc., Kevin (Trudy) Cheney of Salem, Jennifer (John) Cheney-Ford of Lakeworth, Fla. and Katrina Cheney of Howland; one sister, Emelia Citarella and one brother, Robert F. Citarella both of Youngstown. His first wife, Joanne and a son, Michael both preceded him in death in 1986. A memorial service will be held at the Champion Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
