Alvin Weigle

Alvin E. Weigle, age 85, of Cortland passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born on March 2, 1939, in Marion Township, PA to the late Loyal S. and May E. Dawson Weigle.

Alvin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cared for his family deeply. He married the love of his life Joan on July 11, 1959. Together they started building their lives together, traveling and going on cruises.

He was very active and had many different hobbies; he was a black belt in karate, he learned to skydive, play golf, ski, and enjoy boating. He was owner of A& W Appliance and worked for American Welding and Manufacturing for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Linda Weigle; grandsons, Scott Thorn and Gary Weigle; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan Weigle; children, Darlene (Greg) Thorn, Donald Weigle, and Kenneth Weigle; grandson, Christopher Thorn; brother, Dale Weigle and other extended family members.

Calling hours will be held 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel.
