Andrew J. Thomas

Andrew J. Thomas, age 79, of Cortland passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 8, 1945, in Youngstown to the late John and Irene Fekete Thomas.

Andrew was a loving and caring father, papa, and great grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a 1963 graduate of Mathews High School and retired from Frito-Lay. He grew up on a farm, and he continued keeping a garden and working with tractors, especially International Harvesters.

He enjoyed taking his ‘57 Chevy to car shows and later going to tractor shows. He was a drummer playing with a select group in the garage and continued drumming in the basement during family get-togethers. He also enjoyed dancing, camping, playing pool and telling stories. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, sons and daughter-in-law, James (Shanna) Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Danny Thomas; brother, John Thomas; sister, Margaret Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Andrea (Adam) Babcock; grandchildren, Jamie (Matthew) Lester, Heather (Jesse) Humphrey, Jimmy Thomas, Sarah Damron, David Babcock, Bryan Thomas, Brittany Thomas, McKenzie (Adam) Thomas, Rebecca Garrett; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Roseanne Powers and numerous other family members.

You may join the family for burial services on Tuesday, February 11th at 12 pm at All Souls Cemetery, 3823 Hoagland Blackstub Rd, Cortland, OH 44410 with a luncheon to follow immediately after at the Optimist Club, 2619 Hoagland Blackstub Rd, Warren, OH 44481.
