Angela Marie Elizabeth Pacillo Blair, 93, of Austintown, died on July 31 in hospice care at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.
Angela was born in Newark, New Jersey, on February 17, 1931. Early on, Angela had a sense of adventure that took her to Texas to pursue both a bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She had a long career as a teacher in California, where she married her husband Frank Penn Blair on August 11, 1962, who pre-deceased her in 1980.
Lovingly known as “Aunt Mary,” Angela is also pre-deceased by her parents, Gerardo and Josephine Pacillo, and by six of her seven siblings: Michael, Pasquale “Patsy,” Christine, Gerard “Junior,” Daniel, and Adelaide. She is survived by her daughter Kristine Blair and son-in-law Kevin Williams, sister Rose Zeltser, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Angela was a lover of mystery novels and westerns, exercise, and was active in Bible study, bingo playing, and several veterans associations. She will be remembered for her fiercely independent spirit, her dry sense of humor, and her devotion to her Catholic faith.
A memorial mass is scheduled at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4545 New Rd, Austintown, OH 44515 on Tuesday, August 13th at 11:00 am. A private interment will occur at the Riverside National Cemetery in California, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Frank.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Austintown or the American Cancer Society.
