Anne Shimborske, 94 of Howland Township, passed Sunday evening, September 30, 2018, at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. She was born July 6, 1924 in Monessen, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Steve and Mary Michnewicz Kraynek. She and her husband Ed were former residents on Trumbull Avenue S.E. in Warren. Anne was a homemaker all of her married life. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Warren, active in the Hannah Circle there. She loved cooking and baking; and her halupkis and pierogis, and spaghetti dinners were loved by her family and friends. She was a fine bowler, active in church leagues for many years. During World War II, she served as a "Rosie the Riveter" in Detroit, repairing B-29 Bombers; thus contributing to the war effort. Surviving are one son, Daniel L. (Donna) Shimborske of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Karen Shimborske of Howland; three grandsons, Edward (Jennifer) Shimborske III of Toledo, Micah (Amanda) Shimborske of Blissfield, Mich. and Thomas J. Shimborske of Lake Worth, Fla.; six great grandchildren, Madison, Edward IV, Emma, Evelyn, Ennio and Berdie and brother, Walter Kraynek of Monessen, Pa. Her husband of 61 years, Edward Shimborske Sr., whom she married February 24, 1946 preceded her in death February 10, 2007. One son, Edward Shimborske Jr. preceded her in death in 2009. Brothers Sam, John, Bill, Steve and Nick Kraynek have also preceded her in death; as well as sisters Eunice Starinsky and Eunice Kraynek. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Warren , where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Pastor Eugene A. Koene will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren.
