Benjamin R. Mcdowell

Benjamin R. McDowell, 72, passed away from complications of COPD on January 15, 2019 at St. Elizabeths Hospital with his loving wife Jeanne McDowell by his side. Ben was born on March 23, 1946, in Warren; the son of Kenneth & Doris (Wildman) McDowell. Ben retired from General Motors in 2003 after 34 years. He was a member of the Western Reserve Masonic Lodge 0507 in West Farmington and the Moose Lodge. He graduated from Warren G Harding in 1964. Ben and his wife, Jeanne, enjoyed many hobbies together including buying and renovating investment properties, genealogy and traveling to North Carolina to attend art and pottery shows. Ben especially loved Seagrove, North Carolina, and over the years made friends with many local artists. He always had a great story to tell and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. Ben is survived by his wife of 32 years Jeanne S. (Coates) McDowell, his son Derrick Shawn McDowell of Cortland, Kerry Renee (Peter) Pizzulo of Cortland, Dale A. (Anita) Robertson of Boyton Beach, Florida, his grandchildren: Delani (Jared) Kinzig, Christina (Jeffrey) Mendenhall, Karissa and Tyler Milliron, his great grandchildren: Langston Kinzig, Macie & Charlie Mendenhall, his sister Marilyn Mekeal of Monroe Falls, and 2 nephews. Ben was preceded in death by his son Michael and his parents. Bens final wishes were to be cremated with no formal services. Bens family wishes to thank the caring staff at St. Elizabeths Hospital.
