Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, October 6th at the Canfield Village Cemetery for Bernice Treffinger who lived at The Inn at Lake Point Woods in Sarasota Florida and was formerly of Canfield. Mrs. Treffinger passed away Saturday evening at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida. Bernice was born July 3rd 1895 in Austintown, Ohio a daughter of Charles C. and Aulurah (Harding) Buck. After graduating from the Kent Normal College (now Kent State University), she was an Elementary School teacher at both the Austintown and Canfield Elementary Schools. Bernice also owned and operated Spring Hill Farm in Canfield with her husband Frank C. Treffinger whom she married August 4th, 1920 and passed away June 17, 1976. She was a member of the Canfield Presbyterian Church, which she joined in 1907, as well as a member of the Dublin Grange #1409. Her Maternal Grandfather, George G. Harding and her Paternal grandfather Michael Buck were among the original founders and directors of the Farmers National Bank in Canfield. She is survived by her daughter, Thalia Findlay of Sarasota Florida, 5 grandsons, and 9 great-grandchildren. Bernice was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma Wiley. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Grand Piano Perpetual Care Fund at Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 W. Main St. Canfield, OH 44406. Arrangements are by the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel.
