YOUNGSTOWN-Betty (Elizabeth) B. Bartel, 92, passed away Sunday afternoon at Canfield Place. Mrs. Bartel was born July 3, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Sophia Fleps Bartell. Betty was a home-maker. She was a 1945 graduate of South High School. Betty was a member of the Youngstown Saxon Club, Branch No. 22. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her favorite-playing poker. She also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Her husband of 65 years, whom she married June 14, 1947, died August 9, 2012. Betty is survived by several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. A special thanks to care givers and nieces and nephews, Barbara Matherly of Austintown, Janet and James Bartell of Youngstown, Debi Francosky of Las Vegas and nephew and god son, Stephen Bukovac also of Las Vegas. Besides her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, George, Edward and William Bartell and her sisters, Helen Hilty, Elsie Achey and Rosemarie Bukovac. According to Bettys wishes, there are no calling hours or services. One of Bettys favorite sayings was "Be Calm & Carry On".
