Betty Jane Miller, age 96 of Vienna, passed away Sunday at 8 a.m., January 6, 2019, at her home. She was a Vienna resident most of her life. She was born October 22, 1922 in Niles the daughter of the late Dorothy Cleal Burkett and Arnold Burkett. Betty was a 1940 graduate of Vienna High School and that summer met her life partner, John, at the Vienna Homeday dance. She married her husband of 53 years, John Miller Jr. of Liberty on August 29, 1941. Betty worked in the later years of her marriage at the Warren Bus Transportation Co., at Livingstons in the Eastwood Mall and then became a hostess for the Happy Travelers Charter Bus Service in Lordstown, where she hosted charter bus tours east and west across the United States. She also hosted one trip to Switzerland, where she was able to see Lake Zug, Switzerland, the site where her husband's B17 bomber was shot down during World War II. Betty was the longest member on the rolls of the Vienna United Methodist Church, where she was an active member. She was a longtime bowler and golfer on area leagues, a member of the 500 Liberty card club and the Vienna Bridge Club. She enjoyed big band music and especially liked Tony Bennett. Betty was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, watching all the games and she knew all of the players names. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Joyce Villecco; one son, John A. (Jean) Miller; one grandson, Brian (Susan) Villecco and one great grandson, Jesse Villecco. Besides by her parents, Dorothy and Arnold Burkett, preceding her in death were her husband, John Miller in 1994; her son-in-law, Paul R. Villecco Jr. and her stepmother, Blanch Burkett. The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Vienna United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the noon service time. Pastor Mary Prior will officiate. Emtombment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Vienna. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield.
