Cortland – Betty J. Johnson, 93, of Fowler for almost 60 years, passed away on June 21, 2020 at Cortland Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for almost 5 years.
She was born on October 17, 1926 in Niles, the daughter of the late Frank and Mame McCullough. Betty married the late Henry R. Johnson on November 1, 1947 in Niles. Henry passed away May 30, 2009.
Betty loved spending time with her family and friends and always had a smile to share. Betty, Henry and their family ran two Johnson’s Corn Dog Concession trailers for 24 years. The trailers can still be found at local fairs.
Betty was a sweet, lovable lady and she will be sadly missed by her family, friends, Cortland Healthcare staff, and all who knew and loved her. Hugs and kisses to you, Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughters Darlene (Steve) Kennedy of Martinez, GA, and Shirley Secrist of Cortland; her daughter-in-law Nancy Johnson of Cortland; her sons Tim (Pat) Johnson and Denny (Michelle) Johnson, both of Rock Hill, SC, and Kevin Johnson of Fowler; her 10 grandchildren Tracey, Mike, Bill, Greta, Linda, Fawne, Helana, Amanda, Christopher and Ricky; her grand-fur-baby Dusty; her 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty’s son, Staff Sgt. Terry L. Johnson, preceded her in death, as well as her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services were held today, Saturday June 27, 2020, at Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel with Rev. Dr. Vicki Breckner, Betty’s niece, officiating.
Betty was laid to rest at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren. Honorary pallbearers were the Second Brigade Motorcycle Club.
