Memorial services were held 11 Am Wed. at the Lane Funeral Home-Mineral Ridge Chapel for Billy H. Thompson of Colonial Manor Nursing Home, formerly of March Ave. in Liberty Twp. who died November 18 at Northside Hospital after a 3 year illness. Billy was born Nov. 18, 1940 in Scottsboro, Alabama and came to this area in 1957. He was the son of Jim Clay and Annie Mae (Venable) Thompson and had worked at U.S. Steel in McDonald from 1960 to 1980 and then had worked at U.S. Steel Supply in Cincinnati where he had lived retiring in 1988. He had also drove truck for Rathburn Trucking. Billy enjoyed bowling, working on cars and family. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Gilbert) Thompson whom he married March 28, 1958, a son Dale (Nancy) Thompson of Liberty Twp., a daughter Darla (Robert) Caldwell of Hubbard, 5 sisters, Hazel Davis of Hennigar, AL, Joyce Holt of Chickamagua, GA, Myrtle Mount and Rena Wright both of Scottsboro, AL, Polly Wilburn of Section, AL, 3 brothers, Lonnie Thompson of Louisville, KY, David Thompson of Scottsboro, AL, Leonard Thompson of Woodville, AL, 5 grandchildren; Shelly Yurko, Dale M. Thompson II, Megan Thompson, Curt Roskie, Amanda Roskie and their father William Roskie of Hubbard and 2 Great Grandsons. There were no calling hours.
