Candace Jane Gladd, 91 of Mecca Township, fell asleep in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, at 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at Cortland Healthcare Center. She was born September 18, 1928 in Niles, the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Chasser Bolin.
Candace Jane, known to her family and friends as Janie, was a 1947 graduate of Howland High School, where she played baseball. She worked at Packard Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
Jane was an active member of Mecca Community Church for many years. She was a talented seamstress and cross-stitch expert. She made the best nutrolls and enjoyed her polka trips with her husband, John.
Jane is survived by her husband of over 70 years, John Gladd, whom she married October 8, 1949. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Kittie Stein, Olive Liebert and Mary Louise Young and one brother, Warren G. Bolin.
Due to the COVID19 virus, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland.
