Carl D. Mosher, 77, died on January 4, 2018 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina after a short illness. Carl was born in Vichy, Missouri on September 27, 1940 to Dorsie W. Mosher Sr. & Edythe Dehn Mosher. He graduated from Belle Missouri High School and the University of Missouri at Rolla with a BS in mechanical engineering. On July 31, 1965, he married Sarah Sneed and began his 36 year career with GE Lighting taking them to various plants in Illinois, Florida, Ohio and Virginia. The last 20 years were in plant management, retiring in January of 2001. Carl was active in Rotary, United Way and many community and manufacturing leadership roles. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and was a life member of the Elks. Carl was an accomplished craftsman and enjoyed making beautiful furniture and woodworking. Carl will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sarah; his son Cary of Columbus, OH; his daughter Carla Gibson of Warren, OH; his grandchildren Ashley & Aaron Mosher and Brayden & Gage Gibson; his sister Patricia (Liza Hearns) Straw; his brothers Dorsie (Natalia) Mosher, Jr., Ronald (Sadie) Mosher and Randall Mosher as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters & brothers-in-law: Betty (Art) Tucker, Vera (Al) Piazza and Margaret (Leo) Bentlage. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday January 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Howland United Methodist Church; 730 Howland-Wilson Rd. NE. He will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Missouri at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church in Carls name.
