Carol A. Dubec

Carol A. Dubec, 76, passed away on October 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born on June 6, 1942 in Youngstown the daughter of John & Grace (Wilhelm) Bregar. As a youngster, she was involved with the Rainbow Girls, part of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a graduate of North Lima High School and a proud alumnus of the Zippers. Carol spent her career working as a cook for various area restaurants and Maple Crest Nursing Home. She was currently employed by Mercy Health in the nutrition department of St. Joseph Warren Hospital. Carol enjoyed music, especially polkas. She was a talented musician who played some of her favorite polkas on the piano, accordion and trumpet. She was a fan of football, and loved cheering on her favorites; Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. However, Carols passion was cooking and baking for others. She was always feeding people, you never left her home hungry and she never arrived anywhere without a dish to share. Most importantly, Carol was a beloved mother and grandmother. Carol is survived by her children: Theresa (Chuck) Schmidt, John "Joe" Dubec, Annette Venuto and Alysia (James "Jim") Drapcho; her grandchildren John Joseph "JJ" Dubec II, Hannah Dubec, Dylan "Bubba" Schmidt, Lana Pochiro and Gianini "Gia" Venuto as well as several foster siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law Sharon Dubec. A funeral service will be held on Friday October 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Homes; Shafer-Winans Chapel where family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery. Memorial donations in Carols name may be made to the American Heart Association.
