Carol Jean Evans

Carol Jean Evans, 81, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after a very brief illness.

Carol, affectionately known as “Gokie”, was born on November 11, 1943, the beloved daughter of James Robert Brown Sr. and Pearl Irene (Wodianka) Brown and grew up in Berlin Center, Ohio. She was a 1961 graduate of Berlin Center Western Reserve High School. Carol was a dedicated mother and homemaker. Later Carol relocated to West Palm Beach, FL and later Naples, FL and worked in the Pharmacy at WalMart for many, many years. 

Carol was a dedicated mother of two, grandmother of four, great-grandmother to two, and a friend to many others. Carol was a lifelong supporter of the Canfield Fair, having attended the fair eighty years of her life. Carol enjoyed playing cards at every opportunity, spending time with her beloved cats, Thelma and Louise, as well as shopping, interior decorating, country music, attending live concerts, and watching baseball and basketball. Carol loved to give thoughtful gifts to her family and friends, and spending time with them going out to dinner. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her daughter Jamie Jo and her grandchildren Jordan and Jillian. Carol’s passion in life was her family and friends. Carol was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of all that were touched by her. As a “snowbird” Carol enjoyed spending time with friends and family in both Florida and Ohio. 

Carol is survived by her daughter, Jamie Jo Harvey (Robert), two grandchildren Jordan Skylar Gady and Jillian Pearl Gady, whom she was very proud of, and a brother, James Robert Brown Jr. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, as well as a son, John Douglas Evans.

A memorial service to commemorate Carol’s life will be officiated by Pastor Jack Acri and is planned for Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel.
