Carol Irene Gingery

February 18, 1949 — October 28, 2018

Carol Irene Gingery, age 69, of North Jackson, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 after a long battle with COPD. Born on February 18, 1949 in Warren; she was the daughter of William R. and Adele (Emrich) Thompson. Carol was a 1967 graduate of Boardman High School and later from Youngstown State University. She worked for the former Youngstown Hospital Association, and for many years, as an office manager for H&R Block as well as Jackson-Hewitt tax services. Carol also taught tax classes for several years for both companies. She enjoyed working puzzles, watching mysteries on TV, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Woody; three daughters: Heather Joki, Michelle (Steve) Lemons, and Sherrie Gingery-Robinson; five grandchildren: Jillian and Audrey Lemons, Samantha, Breanna, and Josh Joki; a brother Ronald Bertleff; and her Aunt Honey Laise; as well as several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Thursday from 4-7PM; where services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:30AM with Reverend Rebecca Zielke officiating. Burial will take place at North Jackson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice House.
