There will be Services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Locust Grove Baptist church for Carol Chismar, 93, daughter of Evan and Ada (Harrold) Basinger, who passed away peacefully at Hospice House on Saturday March 23, 2019. Carol was born in Columbiana on July 8, 1925. She spent her younger years working at the family business, Basingers Greenhouse in Columbiana. She married her husband, Alex Chismar of Greenford on July 24, 1948, they had 3 children whom they raised in the house Alex built in 1957 in Greenford. Carols passions in life were crocheting, canning the harvest from her husbands garden but the greatest of all was for her family. Carol spent her life caring for her husband of 70 years, her children and her grandchildren. Carol loved to play cards, she had a quick wit and an impish smile she has bestowed upon much of her family. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, her loving husband Alex, her children: Ed (Kris) of Greenford- his children Steven, Randy, Aby and Jed; Alice of North Lima- her children Chad and Brad Blakeman; Kevin (LeeAnn) of Salem- his children Jake and Derek; 13 great grandchildren and her beloved Boston Terrier, Buster. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the Service at the Church. Material contributions may be given to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514.
