Catherine J. "Cathy" Arnette, age 66, a long time resident of Uniontown, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 29, 2017. Born January 13, 1951 in Johnson City, Tennessee; she was the daughter of the late Dale and Jane Cornette; their family soon moved to New Symrna Beach, Florida, which Cathy always considered her hometown. At the age of 15, Cathy met the love of her life, Rex Arnette; they became inseparable and their love story endured through their almost 50 year marriage. "Wouldn't it be Nice" by the Beach Boys would be the song that defined not only an era, but also their love for each other. They became loving parents to: Troy (GA.), Seana (UT), Melissa (GA), Ashley (CA), John Taylor (OH), and Sarah (OH) who along with their 12 beloved grandchildren became the center of their universe; she is also survived by a sister Marcee (Ray) Matheny (FL). Cathy recently retired after 20 years of proud service at Kent State University. She will forever be remembered for her wonderful homemade bread, mixed metaphors, and ability to laugh in any situation. She was gifted with creativity; she loved writing, painting, gardening, and making holidays unforgettable. The family would like to extend a special "thank-you" to the compassionate staff of the Cleveland Clinic Palliative Care Unit, who provided Cathy with care, comfort, laughter, and peace. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30PM on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church; 1212 Greensburg Rd., Green, Ohio; friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
